OV naturals is a tiny skincare & therapy business based in rural Somerset, UK, established and run by Lucy Stevens, a professional Aromatherapist with a passion for natural health and beauty.
OV naturals aromatherapeutic skincare was founded by Lucy in response to the needs of her clients in a therapy context, many of whom had specific concerns regarding their skin. Many were also looking for ways to reduce synthetic chemical overload in their lives.
As well as producing OV naturals skincare products, Lucy continues to treat clients using plant oils and essential oils in her Aromatherapy clinic, as she has been doing since 2006. Lucy is passionate about the effectiveness of aromatherapy in treating mind, body & overall wellbeing.
Lucy never stops reading about, thinking about, researching, trying out and looking for health and beauty tips, ideas and solutions. Some of Lucy’s influences include, in no particular order and by no means exclusively, her vegetarian Grandmother, a passion for creating (whether paintings or yoghurt & banana face masks) and her Jackie Magazine-inspired cleanse-tone-moisturise regime which has rarely faltered since age 14 (well, perhaps once or twice: nobody's perfect!) And of course, her clients, who are a constant source of inspiration.
Qualifications include distinctions for two Diplomas with ITEC, the International Therapies Examinations Council in a) Aromatherapy & b) Holistic Massage, Anatomy & Physiology, gained in 2004-6, when she 'discovered' the healing powers of massage & aromatherapy in a professional context, after being impressed by treatments she received personally. She has continued to study therapies & aromatherapy since then with bodies such as ITHMA (The Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy), the School of Natural Therapies, the SEED Institute, Exeter School of Complementary Health & UK Holistics. Lucy also has an artistic background & holds a Masters Degree, 2:1 Honours Degree & Diploma. Lucy is insured with the Association of Complementary Therapists (CThA) and registered with the Federation of Holistic Therapists (MFHT), one of the most respected regulatory bodies for Complementary Therapies in the UK.
OV Philosophy
OV naturals skincare philosophy is simple:
- keep things simple
- reduce synthetic overload
- harness the power of nature & in particular, the therapeutic value of essential & plant oils, to actively care for your skin.
We hand-blend in small batches using a wealth of carefully selected, professional formulas & botanicals. Our aim is to give you the very best ingredients available, with a good dollop of the feelgood factor added, to improve your skin in the long-term. We like to think of OV naturals products as a professional aromatherapy treatment in a bottle*. (*OV skincare products make no medical claims & are cosmetic products).
OV Ethics
As OV naturals, we are able to contribute to some of our local & village activities. We also support Give & Make Up, an amazing charity which provides a home for unused cosmetics & toiletries - see the Links page to find out more. We urge you to support Give & Make Up too - we all have unused cosmetics languishing at the back of our cupboards in need of a good home!
We are mindful of the environment, our local community and the wider global view of sustainability and green issues, so we recycle & use reclaimed, recycled & recyclable materials wherever possible. We use packaging for OV products that is honest - no double or triple walled jars, no false bases, no presentation boxes. What you see is what you get.
